ABOUT

Individual Therapy for Adults in Arizona

The Protea Grace Approach

At Protea Grace Psychology, I provide trauma-informed therapy and am passionate about helping you learn more about yourself, develop healthier relationships with others, and cultivate a life that reflects what matters to you most. The individuals who come to see me typically struggle with concerns related to self-criticism, their relationships, and significant life transitions.

You are not defined by your struggle, but I imagine it is a significant part of your story.

Trauma-informed therapy is focused on helping you feel less burdened by your emotions and experiences from your past. Regardless of what brings you into therapy, you can trust that you will be met with a therapist that honors your story and believes in your ability to heal and grow.

You’re in good company.

People are often curious about how therapists decide to become therapists. For me, becoming a therapist felt less like a career and more like a calling. Like many of you, I have walked through some hard seasons in my life. In many ways, these experiences have shaped how I show up as a therapist on the other side of the room, and so far, these have been 3 of my biggest takeaways:

  1. It can be incredibly difficult to ask for help

  2. The only way out is through

  3. Relationships, while often a big part of the struggle, are a profound part of the healing

On the Resources blog, I share more a little more about this and my big 3!

Beliefs About Therapy

  • Therapy is a place where you can show up fully and experience compassion in the midst of your suffering. In our time together, I want to help you connect more fully with your experiences and discover a safe and soft place to land within yourself. The good news: you don’t have to do this alone. We’ll work together to help you become a compassionate witness of your experiences and to learn more about yourself.

  • Your story is personal and unique to you. I will partner with you to establish an approach to therapy that fits within your values and personal goals.

  • You may be reaching out because you’ve found yourself at a stuck point. Maybe you feel frustrated, embarrassed, or even defeated. I want to encourage you that it doesn’t have to stay this way. I believe your capacity for healing and growth is already within you and I trust that the work you do will be meaningful.

I’d be honored to start this process with you.
